My Waste of Time

Well it's been a year so I figured I'd see if anybody still checks out this site...anybody?
Well that's it. I'm sold. I've always been told that Dark Beer is better and now I know it to be true. In my short time here in Germany I have found only three truths: Dark beer is better; shit happens; and Calypso is still a biatch!
Nobody seems to make any replies lately so I guess I won't feel bad writing about nothing important but you folks in Arkansas have had it pretty nice this week. The other day it was 35F and raining over here in Germany and the Weather.com said ya'll were sittin' fat and happy in the 70's. What the fuck? If it's gonna be cold and nasty it should at least be snowing, then I could be doing donuts in the parking lots instead of bitching about the weather on this site!
I admit that I only really pay attention to professional baseball during the last half of the season and that my team (KC Royals) usualy suck ass all season long. So I understand why a shitty coach would get fired at the end of a season. But why in the hell did Grady Little of the Boston Red Sox get fired? He took his team into the seventh game of the ALCS against the mighty fuckin' rich Yankees! And by the way I'm glad that rich franchise just got stomped...but I still don't understand how a coach who has averaged 96 wins the last two years gets shitcanned like this. What the fuck?
The web site has been moved to the new server. I didn't delete Gimps post, it was on the old server, and that is why it is gone. There were a few problems, but I have tried to sort them out. I was able to create a new account, and after a little work, I was able to log in. Let me know if you have any more problems.
This is what pisses me off about the political system: Most people are either straight Republican or straight Democrat. I say have an open mind and be independent. Notice the independent is not capitalized so you don't have to be an Independent affiliate. What I'm saying is whether your are Democratic or Republican you need to know your history. Republicans today blame Democrats for the current lag in the economy. Democrats in turn blame Republicans for screwing up everything like the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. While on a military subject, the wars were somewhat successful, but judging by the current situation it seems that Republicans screwed up by not planning the post-war diplomacy well. But don't get me started there.... The fact of the matter is historically our country has done better with either a Democrat in the White House and a Reublican Congress, or a Republican in the White House and a Democratic Congress. It only seems to make sense. You know, the whole balance of power thing is what this country was made from. When Clinton was in the White House messing with government aides, the economy was booming and there was just enough balance of power because Congress was Republican. Now Republicans have too much control and have proceeded to run everything into the ground. You can only play the 9/11 crap so much until you see that without a balance of power, the shit does in fact hit the fan. Therefore, regardless of what party you are affiliated with, remember the balance of power history. Hopefully, by this time next year either a Democrat will be in the White House and Republicans will still hold Congress, or if by some sheer stupidity, George Bush happens to get reelected through the electoral college, the Democrats will regain control of Congress. I say have an open mind and cross party lines. If you vote for a Republican president, keep his dumb ass in check by voting for a Democrat to the House and Senate, or vise versa. Just think, if this country ran like it was supposed to run, the popular vote would actually have meant something and "even though he is boring" Gore would be in the White House and Republicans would probably have held Congress and we wouldn't be having this discussion right now.
In addition to The Aarvark's previous post, I just can't stand these people who preach about stuff they know nothing about. They might go on and on about how they think that the Statue of Liberty is on Ellis Island when it's really on Liberty Island. Or maybe about how pouring salt in water will make pasta cook faster when all it really does is make it boil at a lower temp thus making the actual cooking time longer. Or it could even be how they think Rainbow was the first company to slice bread when it was really Wonder. I guess all I'm trying to say is that there are some people I can't stand. Anything else? Oh yeah, would I be considered inconsiderate if I dress up as Hitler for Halloween and carry around a bucket of smoldering ashes and hand out yellow Star of David patches? Just let me know. And if Calypso has any problem with it, then she can have a patch too!
Yesterday I had to do a marketing research questionnaire on how people feel about downloading music. The typical is it right? Moral? Ethical? Illegal? So after it's over I walk out into the hallway where three other students are talking about it. To my horror, these three dumbshits were in agreement, mostly through one particular dumbshit, that record companies should maintain at least 90% of all profits. So, in the only way I know to do shit, I questioned his statement. Which basically was, "How the hell can you say record companies should get 90%? They don't do anything except slap their label on the cd and mass market them. I would bet dollars the wot audience has better rationale even though we tend to get into some disturbing shit from time to time. So I continued to slam his case into the ground because apparently he has no idea what the music business is about. Granted I am some what clueless, but friends and a few fellow wot users know from their music talents. And goddammit their tunes sound better than most. So this jackass has never been to a concert, thinks that musicians don't have to do much except just "come up" with a song. Sure, yeah, they don't do much. Ohh, except maybe put years of practice into writing, practicing, and performing songs that they spent ever more years dreaming about and then pouring ever more energy into coming up with a sound that doesn't sound like every other band out there. Add that to the time it takes to fine tune each individual song to make it sound just right. Then record it, which from what I hear, takes up to weeks per song. Then when the cd is done, it is pitched to the record company who then slaps it's label on it and markets it to introvert little ugly girls that previously were'nt good for anything but winning spelling bees. So the record company then gets 70%, the retailer gets 20%, and the band probably gets 10%. Which leaves the average band enough money, if they are good enough, to pay their way to go on tour in order to make the money they should have already made from creating their sounds. I say fuck the record companies and I am personally glad sales are down 31% this year due to downloading. Serves em right. Maybe if they took the $1 it cost to make a cd, lowered the price to something reasonable like $6-$8 bucks or lower, and gave the band an appropriate share of the profits sales might actually increase through higher quanity sold.....anyways.......gotta run
